Silvestre, Paul
Silvestre, Paul (1884-1987) – A large sculpture of a faun. Silvestre’s fauns were a great succes and edited as book supports and ‘vide poche’. This however is a sculpture of significant size, it has a very nice dark brown patina. In 1905 he entered the “École des Beaux Arts” in Paris and exhibited regularly at the “Salon des Artistes Francais”. He was rewarded with a gold medal in 1930. The sculpture is signed in the bronze and has the foundry signature and stamp of “Susse Frères”. Height: 32 cms. Depth: 24,5 cms. Width: 19 cms.
