le Bourgeois, Gaston Étienne

le Bourgeois, Gaston Étienne (1880-1956) – le Bourgeois was a prolific animal sculptor. During his career he took his inspiration out of the world of animals. As from 1912 he exhibited his sculptures at the “Salon des Artistes decorateurs” and at the “Salon d’Automne”. In 1921 he got a solo exhibition at the “Musée des Arts Décoratifs” in Paris. He also designed some small objects in ivory which he designed for Louis Vuitton. In 1925 he took part at the Parisian  “Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industrielles Modernes”. He made sculptures in wood, stone bronze and porcelain (for the ‘Manufacture de Sèvres’). His work is found in private and museum collections (a.o: “Musée La piscine” in Roubaix and the “Musée des Arts Decoratifs” in Paris). Height: 60 cms. Width: 17 cms. Depth: 25 cms. Material: Stone (‘pierre de Bourgogne’). Taille directe. Condition: Good considering age.
