Dignimont, André (1891-1965)

Dignimont, André was an illustrator, painter and engraver and son of a wine merchant. He studied at the academie ‘Julian’ and lived and worked in Montmartre. He was close friends with Jean Gabriël Domergue (1889-1962) and Roger de Fresnaye (1885-1925). His main subject was frivolous women with a lot of ‘picanterie’, as illustrated in this gouache drawing. He also made illustrations for magazines such as “le Rire”, “Le revue des elegances”, “Le Crapouillot” and in the “Gazette du bon ton”. The drawing is framed and the total measurements are: Height: 38 cms. Width: 28 cms.
