Aman Jean, Edmond (1858-1936)

Aman Jean studied at the ‘Ecole des beaux arts’ in Paris, one of his teachers was Pierre Puvis de Chavannes (1824-1898). Primarily a painter of women portraits and very much inspired by French symbolism, the English Pre Raphaelites and Japanese art. He was also a renowned lithographer, as seen in this four colored lithograph “sous les fleurs” from the series “L’estampe Moderne”, of which it has a blind stamp. This litho is also in the famous print collection of the ‘van Gogh museum’. It is framed and the total measurement is: Height: 53 cms. Width: 43 cms.
