Cros, Henri (1840-1907)

Cros, Henri – This artist re discovered the ancient “Pâte-de-Verre” technique and was the first of only seven who mastered it. Originally he was a ceramist working at the Sèvres factory. He experimented with new techniques of which “Pâte-de-Verre”  became the most successful. He was inspired by ancient Greek/Roman and Egyptian antiquity. Thus he made amulets, medallions and plaques sculptured in low relief, mostly portraits and sceneries inspired by this period. Period: 1896 -1900. Condition: good. Height: 8 cms. Width: 6 cms.
